Specially designed for Belgian brewers. Selected French 2-row barley undergoes a particular malting process which favors the development of a very pronounced malt aroma. This malt will lend a pleasant aromatic malt taste, reinforced by a soft and mellow mouthfeel.
Can be used as a base malt, similar to Vienna Malt, just a little darker and richer. Very aromatic aroma. Use up to 50% (Although I've heard that Rogue uses it up to 100% in one of their beers)

Château Abbey malt is a toasted Belgian specialty malt. Abbey malt gives a strong taste of cooked bread, nuts and fruits. It has a pronounced bitter flavor that mellows on ageing, but can remain quite intense. It also imparts deep color. When used to deepen color, Château Abbey malt is typically used as a very small proportion of the grist (0.5%). Abbey malt is suitable for use in porters and ales of all colors. It is excellent for fruit beers, abbey beers, Trapist beers, and many Belgian specialty styles.
This malt was formerly known as "Castle Aromatic Malt."
