For treatment of barrels to remove excess tannin. Required usage of 1 pound per every 5 gallons of hot water. 50 gallon barrel will require 10 lbs of Barolkleen. New barrels need to be treated in the following way: * Fill the barrel with a solution of Barolkleen mixed to a strength of 1 pound to every 5 gallons of hot water & leave for at least 48 hours. * Drain the barrel & flush it with clean water until water runs clear from the barrel. * Mix a solution of two ounces of sodium metabisulfite & one ounce of citric acid in two gallons of warm water and pour this solution into the barrel. Roll it around so it comes in contact with all interior surfaces. * Drain the sulphite solution, rinse the barrel well & immediately fill with wine.

Potassium Campden Tablets 50 (Fifty) Each

Campden Tablets - Potassium Metabisuphite - Made from potassium metabisulphite and is a convenient way to accurately sulphite wine. Inhibits harmful bacteria and helps retard oxidation. Recommended usage is 1 tablet per 1 gallon of wine. Add in primary fermnting stage and wait 24 hours before adding yeast. Crush and dissolving in water or wine. Releases sulphur dioxide, which acts as a sterilant and antioxident. Each tablet contains 550 mg of active sulphite/tablet. May be used at each racking also to retard oxidation. 50 ct package.
