This is a roasted malt imparting colour, flavour and body to dark beers in English Ale brewing where its pleasant characteristic flavour is required

A roasted malt coloured to a higher degree than Chocolate Malt in the roasting process. Black Malt has no diastatic activity and no fermentable extract and is simply used to add flavour and colour in dark beers such as milds, porters, stouts, and other dark beer styles.
Used in higher proportions this grain can cause a rather complex, dry mildly burnt finish to you beer. Usage of 1-6% is the normal, beyond that and your going to find that burnt taste come around.
Typical Color L: 470-560

A roasted malt coloured to a higher degree than Chocolate Malt in the roasting process. Black Malt has no diastatic activity and no fermentable extract and is simply used to add flavour and colour in dark beers such as milds, porters, stouts, and other dark beer styles.
Used in higher proportions this grain can cause a rather complex, dry mildly burnt finish to you beer. Usage of 1-6% is the normal, beyond that and your going to find that burnt taste come around.

Imported English specialty grain (crystal malt) 12 Lovibond.
This is a light crystal malt. Use this to add body and sweetness to beer without adding too much color.
Balances body & flavor without adding color
When used in lager beers, Carapils promotes head formation and retention and gives the beer a fuller rounder flavour. As the starches have already been converted during malting, this malt is ideal for use by extract brewers.
Balances body and flavor without adding color or sweetness. A lighter crystal type malt, the Dextrines add body, mouth-feel as well as head retention. They are best when mashed with your pale malt due to the lack of enzymes. Or steeped with your other grains. Use 5-20% for these characteristics and without adding color.
