Pre Order for Mid October Delivery -
Deep amber to copper in colour with a big hearted body, our latest seasonal beer is sure to add cheer to this Holiday season. Hop bitterness is apparent, but not aggressive. This beer boasts of fruity, estery flavours and will continue to develop and mature with aging (if bottle conditioned). Complimenting the hop character is a touch of spiciness from cinnamon and nutmeg. The spice level is moderate, but we encourage you to add spices, herbs or sugars to your personal taste.
Spice up your Winterfest
This BrewHouse Winterfest Ale has been mildly spiced in the tradition of Christmas Ales of the past. The Cinnamon and Nutmeg in this kit will contribute a gentle, aroma accent, without being overwhelming to most palletes. If you wish to create a brew with a more assertive spice note, the following suggestions will be of help. It is best to create an extract of spices, rather than adding spices directly, which can extract excess harsh flavour.
Recipe
Bring 2 litres water to a boil, add spices and boil for 10 minutes, cool and strain. Use this solution as part of the water addition to make up the volume of the kit.
Suggestions: Ginger or Nutmeg - 2 tsp. ½ oz. Dried ginger root 1 oz. Curacao orange peel 1" Vanilla bean 2 oz. Coriander 2 grams Mace Others: Coffee at ½ lb. Per 5 gallons. Steeped, not boiled.
FOOD AND SOCIAL
It pairs extremely well with the traditional festive stuff like- roasted nuts, seasonal sweets, turkey and stuffing and of course a crackling fire.
